“Believe you can and you're halfway there.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
The Bull Moose is right. Those who believe in themselves are the ones who succeed. Success is not a measure of how much a person has achieved, but rather how much they have learned on the journey. Self worth is not measured on the same scale as monetary possessions, rather it is a reflection of the trials we’ve overcome and those we have yet to face. It is a look into that upon which the impossible becomes the possible. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you are,or where you’ve been; believing in yourself is always one of the hardest things to accomplish.
To me, this quote is special. It reflects my own personal struggle. I have always possessed a rather low self esteem. When I was a child I didn’t have many friends or acquaintances to support my already small self-confidence. Often I would come home in a slumped manner--depressed about the school day's laborious and often menial drudgery. I would often ask myself, “Is it worth it?”, over and over in my head, and I never came to a conclusion. You would never notice today, mostly because of my happy-go lucky nature, but depression was often, and sometimes still is, a daily part of my life. However, to stay truly happy, I must overcome myself. Self-esteem is not an easily overcome monster, but it is necessary to conquer it to better yourself.
Self confidence is one of the best things to have in your life. It provides a concrete structure off of which you build the rest of your life. It’s as the old saying goes; He that wills the end wills the means. If you are determined to do something you will find the way to do it. If you believe in yourself great things become possible.
