I want you, to look at this paper. In my 3rd hour Senior Transitions project, we were instructed to assemble some sort of piece that represented our own personalities. Almost everybody chose to take the easy way out, which was either a poster or some sort of collage. I, on the other hand, chose to create my own “art.” Its design was based on the old “I Want You” military propaganda, but with my own twists, naturally. I included objects that I believed represented my own personality in some form. Objects such as a Ufo, or maybe a cat, were included in my project.
This project, at least in my opinion, helps further my own non-verbal communicative skills, and in a cool, if somewhat time-consuming, way, which is pretty hard to accomplish in this type of education. Not to sound egotistical, but in my opinion, I had the best project in the class, but that’s purely opinionated and I won’t dwell on it. I feel like my own goal was reached, I had a pretty great project, and I had improved my own art based skills, so it was a pretty good day overall.
In conclusion, my project has taught me how to further my own communicative skills through a non-verbal medium, such as drawing, in my case. Perhaps this will help me in the never-ending quest that is life, but for now it just feels great to get it out there. I made a piece of art that speaks to the soul. Nothing has to be said to understand the meaning behind my drawing, and I think that that is the definition of art itself.
