Do you enjoy getting dye on your fingers? I don’t! Now that I have your attention I’d like to talk about my project for independent chemistry. I say project, but its really more of an experiment. It was pretty interesting actually, but that’s because I love science. It’s pretty rare for somebody to even be in independent chemistry so it was a privilege of sorts.
For this project, we had to perform an existing experiment from a kit that was provided and run some calculations through it. We eventually had to create a lab report detailing all the steps we took, all the calculations we made, any equations that were used, and a general summary of the concept, so it was kind of like this paper but much more complicated. It was an enlightening experience to say the least, and I can’t say I enjoyed all of it, but the end product was quite satisfactory. I brought up the dye because I accidentally spilled some of it while running this experiment and I became much more cautious of the chemistry lab as a result.
Chemistry is as chemistry does. This experiment, or project, helped to further my basic chemistry knowledge and further tempered my own intellectual and organizational properties overall. As a result I feel much more confident going into a field of science as a career, afresh with the knowledge that will help me and potentially my co workers in any organized workplace henceforth .Though, I don’t know how much this will foster a career of zoology ,but only time will tell.
